Giovanni Lanzini
Diplomatosi
giovanissimo in clarinetto presso il Conservatorio di Musica Statale "L. Cherubini"
di Firenze, si è in seguito perfezionato con illustri strumentisti quali Karl
Leister (Orchestra Filarmonica di Berlino), Primo Borali (Orchestra RAI di
Milano) e Vincenzo Mariozzi (Accademia di Santa Cecilia di Roma). Da anni svolge
intensa attività concertistica che lo ha visto esibirsi per le più prestigiose
Associazioni musicali italiane ed all'estero (Francia, Germania, Svizzera,
Austria, Croazia, Svezia, Romania, Stati Uniti, Portogallo) sia come solista che con i gruppi di musica da
camera da lui fondati, tra i quali il Quartetto Italiano di Clarinetti, il
Quartetto di Fiati "Benedetto Carulli", il Trio Clarinetto Concertante
ed il “Serenatensemble”. Nel 1987 ha avuto l'opportunità di esibirsi
dinanzi a Sua Santità Giovanni Paolo II in Vaticano e nel 1995 ha rappresentato
l'Italia al VI Incontro Europeo del Clarinetto svoltosi a Pontarlier in Francia,
ricevendo entusiastici consensi che gli hanno valso l’invito a tenere un
concerto l’anno successivo presso il Conservatorio
di Musica di Le Havre. Nel 1990 si è esibito come “solista” nell’ambito
del Festival di Spoleto. Nel 1997 è stato inoltre invitato, con il Quartetto
Italiano di Clarinetti, dalla Società dei Compositori Croati al 34° Festival
di Musica Contemporanea di Opatija, dove ha eseguito “prime assolute” di
compositori italiani dedicate al quartetto, registrando per l’occasione per
Radio Zagabria e per la televisione nazionale croata. Ha effettuato varie
registrazioni radiofoniche e televisive per la RAI nel 1987 e 1989 ed ha al suo
attivo l’incisione di otto compact-disc di musica classica e contemporanea
per le etichette EMI Classic, Bongiovanni, Miki-Mako, Agenzia Spaziale Italiana,
Iktius, Avvenimenti, San Paolo Audiovisivi, EMA Records. Premiato in vari Concorsi Nazionali
ed Internazionali, nel 1987 ha vinto il Primo Premio Assoluto all'XI Concorso
Internazionale di Musica "Città di Stresa" e nel 1989 il Primo Premio
al Concorso Nazionale "Città di Genova". Dal 1981 al 2007 è stato docente di
clarinetto presso l'Istituto Musicale Comunale di Grosseto. Dal 1994 ricopre il
ruolo di “primo clarinetto” nell'Orchestra Sinfonica “Città di
Grosseto”. Cultore della storia e
della letteratura della “famiglia” del clarinetto, affianca spesso nei suoi
concerti al clarinetto moderno strumenti antichi e poco frequentati quali il
“corno di bassetto” e lo “chalumeau”.
Con quest’ultimo strumento ha effettuato due tournèe in Italia, Austria
e Germania dove ha eseguito il raro “Concerto in Re min. per due chalumeaux”
di G.Ph. Telemann, suonando tra l’altro nell’ambito del prestigioso
“Bachfest” a Lipsia. Giovanni Lanzini suona strumenti Selmer.
Giovanni
Lanzini was born in 1962 in the south of Tuscany (Italy). He studied in
Grosseto at the Teachers’ Training school and in Florence at the National
Conservatory of Music. In 1980, at the age of 18, he became graduated in
clarinet. Later on he completed his musical studies with great musicians like
Karl Leister (Berliner Philarmoniker), Primo Borali (Conservatory of Milan) and
Vincenzo Mariozzi (Academy of St. Cecilia in Rome). Then he started to teach
music in the secondary school and in 1981 he became teacher of clarinet in the
citizen Music School of Grosseto. Beside the activity of teaching he started to
play as soloist and with chamber music groups in many important musical
association in Italy and abroad (France, Germany, Scotland, Austria, Croatia,
Switzerland, Romania, U.S.A, Portugal). In 1985 he became president of “Amici del Quartetto”
Association and founded several chamber music groups: Italian Quartet of
Clarinets, Winds Quartet “Carulli”, “Donizetti Ensemble” and “Serenatensemble”.
In 1987 he played in the Vatican before the Pope John Paul II and in 1985 he was
invited to represent Italy ah the 6th European Clarinet Meeting in
Pontarlier (France), receiving enthusiastic consents that have been worth him
the invitation to play the following year by Conservatory of Music of Le Havre (France).
In 1990 he has played like soloists at the prestigious Festival of the Two
Worlds in Spoleto (Italy). In the 1997 was invited as guest, with the Italian
Quartet of Clarinets, from the Croatian Composers Society at 34° Festival of
Contemporary Music of Opatija (Croazia), where he has performed "first
absolute executions" of Italian authors dedicated to his quartet. In that
occasion the concert was entirely recorded from Zagabria Radio and from the
national television of the Croazia. In Italy he has made broadcast and
televisions recordings for the national broadcasting radio and television (RAI)
in the 1987 and 1989. As soloists and together with groups of chamber music has
recorded eight compact-disc of classical and contemporary music. Like
clarinettist, Giovanni Lanzini has won the first absolute prize at the XI
International Contest of Music for Youths in Stresa (Italy) in 1987 and the
first prize at the National Contest "City of Genoa" in the 1989. Since
1981 to 2007 he was teacher of clarinet in the Musical Institute of Grosseto. Often, for
his experience in clarinet and in the chamber music, he is invited in many
juries of prestigious musical Italian contests. Since 1984 Giovanni Lanzini is
"principal clarinet" of the Symphonic Orchestra "City of Grosseto".
Studious of the history and of the literature of the clarinet
"family", he often plays ancient and rare instruments like “basset
horn” and “chalumeau” (ancestor of the clarinet). With the chalumeau in
2001 he performed the rare D minor Concert of Telemann in Rome (I), Kremsmunster
(A) and “Bachfest” in Lipsia (D) in occasion of the European celebrations in
the 3rd Century of the clarinet. Giovanni Lanzini plays Selmer instruments.
